Websim.ai: Creating software whatever whenever
Dissecting the popular Websim.ai app - one of the pioneers on creating a truly AI-native user interface
Let’s face it: If you launched a new startup as a young entrepreneur, you have no brand, no recognition, no nothing - maybe not even a product. That is bad news.
I know, startups are hard, right?!
Eventually - at least very soon - you will have a functional first version. That’s good news.
You probably have some ideas on what problem to solve, what single feature is the most important and all the rest.
Now set them aside.
Think about growth and distribution.
The question is: “If you have no brand, no fame and no big bad billionaire network to leverage, how do you ensure you can distribute your product?”
Well - you build it into the product.
That’s exactly what Websim.ai has done.
Websim.ai is a browser inside a browser.
You write a prompt or some keywords on what you would like to access - and AI will build it for you.
It will not show you the code. It will not open up a chat interface for you to be informed.
Simply request - and you shall get it.
I think this is amazing.
There are mainly 3 reasons for this.
1. AI-native products are hard to build
Contrary to popular belief, AI native product building is hard. It seems like you are just sending some API calls to an LLM and you are done.
It might be the case for a lot of ChatGPT copycats. However if you are trying to build a truly different thing, it is not the case.
By nature, AI generates indeterministic results. That means it makes it difficult on the backend to account for each different generation. And show the result to the user without crashing the application.
Websim.ai seems to have figured this out.
2. They built distribution into the product
When you create an app, it will be shared in the marketplace feed for everyone to see. That means you can use the apps I create.
This creates a flywheel motion so naturally.
3. User journey
They have taken such an overlooked yet fundamental common UX and correlated it with AI somehow.
Using the browser toolbar.
It feels like instead of visiting a product I need, I am actually generating it on the spot. No Google searches and free trials necessary.
This is a great message to invoke in user’s mind.
